Talk About When Max Was Born“Mama, Talk About When Max Was Born” is a delightful little story told to Presleigh about the home waterbirth of her brother Max.

Written by Toni Olson, the story follows Mama’s pregnancy, her midwife visits, chats with her doula, labour and the eventual waterbirth of the baby.

Written in simple, easy to read prose, the story is delightful for youngsters preparing to meet a new sibling at home. Or, like us, it’s a wonderful book to re-visit a homebirth and discuss the things that happened.

The things I really enjoyed about this gorgeous little book were the beautiful pictures of a family very much in love, a dad actively participating in birth, and a little girl to whom birth is completely normal. The illustrations by S. Marie Carlson are engaging, colourful, and detailed.

There is a wonderful illustration of Mama in strong labour, and I must say, it really took me back!

The midwives and doulas appear to be holding the space for Mama throughout her labour, and the story unfolds as though it’s just a normal but wonderful day.

What a gorgeous book to include in your library for your little one. I’m happy to recommend “Mama, Talk About When Max Was Born” and will be contacting Toni to acquire some copies to give away to Natural Parenting Tips subscribers.
